What we do
Hal’s Drive Thru is more than a feeding program. It is an outreach ministry that uses food to bring people together to show the love of Jesus Christ in a tangible way. The needs of these people are many, and a single meal won’t address the needs of the homeless and hungry. It is a way to show that the people in need are seen, not overlooked, heard and not silenced and will be remembered and not forgotten.
The meal is a way to open up conversation and build relationships. Food plays a major role in just about everything in our culture from weddings, reunions, celebrations and even funerals. Food is a need that we all have, regardless of our financial or social status, and levels the playing field in a natural way, when at times a bible alone might seem offensive.
Showing the love of Jesus Christ has always been more effective than just preaching the love of Jesus Christ. Using food as the platform, the grills as the pulpit, Hal, Nancye, Mike and the love of Jesus Christ, we can communicate louder than with a bull horn and a bible.
Feed & Share
Our strategy to fulfill our mission is simple— feed and share. We love food, we love people. We will pursue two types of events to help accomplish our mission.
♦ Hal’s Drive Thru has a passion to serve the needy through outreach events. We seek to partner with existing organizations that minister to the homeless or to those with special needs by providing food for events. Whether it’s a homeless outreach in inner-city Atlanta, mothers and children at a home for unwed or abused mothers, or catering to the participants at a competition for the mentally handicapped, our desire is to come in, set up and serve excellent food with a friendly smile and listening ears. We want to hear their stories, encourage them, and share our faith while offering the hope found in a relationship with Jesus Christ. At our outreach events we will provide the food and service at no cost.
♦ The second type of event we pursue we call “opportunity events” for churches, corporations, and communities who are doing an event needing food. We will come in and provide food and service at a reasonable fee that covers the food cost plus an additional fee which will go toward our outreach events and operations.
